Democrat Peter H. Collins is seeking reelection as a Norfolk County commissioner in the Nov. 3, 2026, state election. Candidate listings are available through the Massachusetts elections office.

Collins is a Milton resident and attorney who owns Collins & Collins in Quincy, a practice focused on workers’ compensation, according to his county biography. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Suffolk University Law School.

Experience and responsibilities

The county biography lists Collins as president of the Massachusetts Association of County Commissioners and a trustee of Norfolk County Agricultural High School. Those roles describe his experience; they do not establish a new campaign commitment.

Norfolk County has three commissioners elected countywide to four-year terms. County responsibilities include administration of county property and programs, including the agricultural school. The county’s financial statements explain that its Advisory Board, composed of municipal representatives, reviews and approves budgets and appropriations.

Policy information

The county biography reviewed for this profile does not present a detailed 2026 campaign platform, new spending proposals or implementation costs. This profile therefore does not attribute specific new policy promises to Collins. Commissioners’ decisions can affect county services and costs shared by member communities, but a commissioner does not independently control municipal schools, zoning or town budgets.

The Needham-Dedham Times did not receive a direct questionnaire response from the candidate and does not endorse candidates.
