Democratic U.S. Rep. Jake Auchincloss is seeking reelection in Massachusetts’ 4th Congressional District in the Nov. 3, 2026, election. Republican Thomas Stalcup is also listed in the state’s official candidate roster.
Auchincloss has served in Congress since January 2021. He graduated from Harvard, served in the Marine Corps and later earned an MBA at MIT, according to his congressional website.
Healthcare and energy
Auchincloss joined the House Energy and Commerce Committee for the 119th Congress, serving on its Health, Energy and Environment subcommittees. His appointment announcement identifies lowering healthcare costs and limiting middlemen’s influence as priorities.
His energy platform supports nuclear power, geothermal energy, solar power and battery research. These positions could affect federal investment and energy policy, but the materials reviewed do not establish specific savings for district households.
Children and social media
In September, Auchincloss and Republican Rep. Erin Houchin introduced the 16 & Up Social Media Act. It would prohibit accounts for children under 16 on covered platforms using engagement-driven features, require deletion of children’s data when accounts close and provide an appeals process. It is a proposal, not an enacted requirement.
What the office can do
A House member can introduce legislation, vote on federal spending and conduct oversight. Enacting these proposals would require congressional approval and presidential action; Auchincloss could not impose them alone.
The Needham-Dedham Times did not receive a direct questionnaire response from the candidate and does not endorse candidates.
