Needham's fire and police departments will hold a remembrance ceremony on Friday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. outside the Public Safety Building at 88 Chestnut St.

The ceremony will honor those who died at the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania, according to a notice on the Town of Needham's website. The event is open to all residents.

Fire Chief Tom Conroy and Police Chief John Schlittler lead the two departments co-hosting the ceremony.

Separate tribute service on Sept. 13

A second event, a 9/11 Tribute Service, is scheduled at Needham Fire Department Station 1 on Sunday, Sept. 13, from noon to 2 p.m., according to a listing on the Needham Observer's event page.

Community members can donate $3 to plant a flag in a memorial flag garden, $1 to tie a ribbon honoring someone on a nearby tree, or paint tribute stones. The two events are organized separately.
