Massachusetts State Police troopers issued more than 1,900 traffic citations and arrested 16 drivers on suspicion of operating under the influence during Operation Wicked Safe.
The agency announced the results on X on Oct. 22, describing the effort as "a coordinated regional enforcement initiative targeting dangerous and distracted driving."
The statewide totals do not break down by town or barracks. Route 128, which shares the I-95 corridor through Needham and Dedham, is one of the region's busiest commuter highways. Whether any of the 1,900-plus citations were issued along that stretch has not been specified.
State Police have not publicly detailed which dates the operation covered or which agencies participated alongside troopers.
The 16 OUI arrests represent a fraction of the overall enforcement activity but signal that impaired driving remained a focus of the campaign.
Residents can report dangerous driving by calling 911 in an emergency.
