Emily Bonsall scored three goals and four teammates each added one as Dedham girls soccer shut out Norwood 7-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
The Marauders controlled the game from start to finish at Dedham High School's Multipurpose Turf Field. Bonsall completed her hat trick while Holton, Miranda, Matern and Salaun all found the net, according to Dedham High School Athletics. The Boston Herald independently confirmed the 7-0 result in its Wednesday roundup.
The win improved Dedham to 5-2 on the season. The Marauders entered the game at 4-2, per a Dedham Athletics post on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Bonsall has scored at least five goals across Dedham's last two wins. In the Marauders' 4-2 victory over Ashland earlier in the week, the Boston Herald credited Bonsall with a hat trick in its Monday roundup. The school's own account listed two goals for Bonsall in that game. Regardless of the exact count, Bonsall has carried the Dedham attack during a stretch that has vaulted the Marauders above .500.
The scoring surge comes as Dedham eyes the MIAA Division 3 tournament. The first power rankings, released Tuesday, Sept. 29, placed the Marauders at No. 13, according to MassLive. Those rankings were published before the Norwood shutout. MassLive's analysis noted that Division 3 "runs through the Tri-Valley League," with defending champion Medfield among the conference's ranked teams.
Dedham gets a direct look at that defending champion next. Head coach Don Savi's squad travels to Medfield on Monday, Oct. 5, at 5 p.m., then returns home to host Hopkinton on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 4:30 p.m.
