Dedham homeowners 60 and older can earn up to $1,500 off their property tax bill by volunteering with town departments. The Senior Tax Work-Off Program is now accepting applications, according to the Dedham Council on Aging's October newsletter.

The program year runs from Dec. 1 through Oct. 31, 2027. Participants work up to 100 hours providing administrative support and other services to Town of Dedham departments. The tax credit applies to the following fiscal year's real estate bill.

Tami Allen-Acevich, outreach coordinator at the Dedham Council on Aging, wrote in the newsletter that the program benefits both seniors and the town, giving participants a chance to use their skills while making an impact in their community.

To qualify, applicants must own property in Dedham and pay real estate taxes. Annual income cannot exceed $55,000 for a single applicant or $70,000 for a married couple. Applicants must also be current on tax payments, pass a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check, complete an interview with Council on Aging staff and provide income verification.

Residents can call 781-751-9495 to apply or ask questions.
