Dedham High's soccer programs both fell to Medfield on Monday, Oct. 5, with the boys shut out 6-0 at home and the girls losing 4-1 on the road.
The boys' game at Dedham's Multipurpose Turf Field was lopsided from the opening whistle. Medfield built a 4-0 lead by halftime and tacked on two more goals after the break, according to score updates from the Dedham High athletics account on X. The Warriors controlled possession throughout, and Dedham never found the back of the net.
The boys had already entered the week on a rough stretch. They lost 2-1 at Norwood on Sept. 30 before the Medfield blowout, according to the Dedham boys' MaxPreps schedule.
Medfield has won six games by three or more goals this season, per MaxPreps.
The girls fared little better in their trip to Medfield's turf. The Marauders fell 4-1 to the Warriors, who are the defending MIAA Division 3 state champions, as MassLive noted in its early-season rankings coverage.
The loss dropped Dedham's girls to 5-4 overall and 4-3 in the Tri-Valley League, placing them fifth in the conference, according to MaxPreps. It was a sharp reversal from their previous outing, a 7-0 rout of Norwood on Sept. 30.
Medfield's girls improved to 8-1 overall with the win. The Warriors have now won 17 straight home games dating back to last season, scoring 93 goals over that stretch, per a MaxPreps recap. Medfield also won the earlier meeting between the two girls' programs this season.
Dedham's girls entered the week ranked No. 13 in the MIAA Division 3 power rankings, per MassLive. On the boys' side, TVL Sports Updates had Dedham at No. 26 and Medfield at No. 10 in MIAA rankings posted Sept. 29. Updated rankings reflecting the Oct. 5 results have not been released.
Both Dedham soccer programs are scheduled to host Hopkinton on Wednesday, Oct. 7, with boys and girls games set for 4:30 p.m.
