Needham golfer Rebecca Skoler will tee off Monday at Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg with a chance to win her second Massachusetts Women's Amateur Championship in four years.

Skoler, 24, a University of Virginia graduate and Pine Brook Country Club member, won the 2023 title at Dedham Country & Polo Club and reached the 2022 final. She competed in the U.S. Women's Amateur in 2025. In last year's state tournament at Concord Country Club, Skoler opened with a 2-over-par round that included an eagle off a long putt on the par-5 fifth hole. Now she returns as one of the favorites in the 2026 field.

The 123rd edition of the tournament runs Aug. 10–14 and opens with 36 holes of stroke play Monday, Aug. 10, and Tuesday, Aug. 11. The low 32 qualifiers advance to match play Wednesday, with quarterfinals and semifinals Thursday and the 18-hole championship match Friday. The stroke-play medalist takes home the Osgood Trophy, and the overall champion earns an exemption into the 2027 U.S. Women's Amateur.

Skoler will face a deep field. Defending champion Isabel Brozena of Indian Ridge Country Club, a rising junior at Xavier University, won last year's title on the 18th hole. Morgan Smith is back. The two-time champion (2022 and 2024) will be joined by Shannon Johnson, the 2018 winner who finished runner-up in 2025, and Molly Smith, a four-time semifinalist who lost to Skoler in the 2023 final. Lillian Guleserian, the 2026 New England Women's Amateur winner, rounds out the top contenders.

Oak Hill's 6,114-yard layout is the longest course used for the Women's Amateur in nearly a decade, according to MassGolf. The front nine features sweeping, open terrain with small, steeply sloping greens; the back nine tightens into a narrow corridor of timber that demands precise positioning.

The club has hosted the championship twice before: in 1994, when Anne Marie Tobin won her fourth consecutive title, and in 1999, when Laura Torrisi won on the 25th hole in the longest final match in tournament history.
