Dedham's field hockey team lost 1-0 at Medfield on Tuesday, Sept. 29, the Marauders' second straight defeat in Tri-Valley League play.

The shutout loss followed a 3-1 defeat at Norwood on Sept. 24. Dedham drops to 3-3 on the season with a two-game losing streak.

The Dedham High athletics department posted the final score on X shortly after the game. No individual stats or scoring details were available.

The skid erases what had been a strong mid-September run. After opening with a 6-1 loss to Dover-Sherborn on Sept. 8, Dedham rattled off three consecutive wins: 4-0 at Bellingham on Sept. 10, 2-0 at Medway on Sept. 17 and 5-1 over Ursuline Academy on Sept. 22. Brooklyn Henrici and Mary Kate Cronin, who scored two goals, combined for all three first-half goals in the Ursuline win, according to the athletics department.

Dedham's season schedule on MaxPreps shows the Marauders at 1-1 at home and 2-2 on the road through six games.

The back-to-back losses carry tournament implications. The MIAA Division 3 power rankings released the morning of Sept. 29, before the Medfield game, had Dedham ranked fifth out of 53 teams with a 3-2 record and a rating of 3.0788. Medfield sat sixth with a 3-3 record and a 2.8795 rating. The top 32 teams qualify automatically for the state tournament. Teams ranked 33rd through 53rd can earn a play-in berth with a .500 record or better.

Dedham's updated ranking after the loss has not been released. At 3-3, the Marauders still hold a .500 winning percentage, but their margin for error has thinned with 11 games left on the schedule.

Dedham travels to Hopkinton on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m. The Marauders then host Holliston on Oct. 6, visit Westwood on Oct. 8, host Mansfield on Oct. 9 and host Ashland on Oct. 13 before a rematch at Dover-Sherborn on Oct. 16.
