Dedham girls soccer tied Hopkinton 1-1 Wednesday, Oct. 7, in a Tri-Valley League game at Dedham High School's Multipurpose Turf Field.

The draw moved the Marauders to 5-4-1 on the season, according to the Dedham High School athletics schedule. Hopkinton now sits at 6-3-1, according to MaxPreps.

Neither team entered the match on a high note. Dedham had dropped a 4-1 road decision at Medfield High School on Monday, Oct. 5, while Hopkinton was coming off a 3-1 loss to Norton.

The result pushed head coach Don Savi's squad to 4-3-1 in Tri-Valley League play, keeping Dedham in the middle of the conference standings. Dedham sat at 4-3 in league play before the match, according to MaxPreps standings updated Oct. 6.

The tie caps a difficult opening to October for the Marauders. After Emily Bonsall's hat trick powered a 7-0 shutout of Norwood on Sept. 30, as we reported after the Norwood win, Dedham has gone 0-1-1 in its two October games. Bonsall had plenty of help in the Norwood rout. Holton, Miranda, Matern and Salaun each scored a goal in that 7-0 victory.

No individual scoring details from the Hopkinton match were available. Neither Dedham Athletics nor Hopkinton Athletics posted a box score with goal scorers.

The Marauders' next test comes Monday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m. when they host Shawsheen Valley Vocational Tech in a non-league game at the Multipurpose Turf Field. Dedham then travels to Holliston on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 4 p.m. for a Tri-Valley League contest that could shape the team's positioning in the conference's second half.
