The Eustis Estate opens its grounds Sunday, Oct. 4, for a free open-air arts market featuring juried craftspeople from across New England.

The 7th Annual Eustis Estate Fine Arts and Crafts Market runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1424 Canton Ave. in Milton, a short drive from Dedham along Canton Avenue. Historic New England, the nonprofit that operates the estate, announced the rescheduled date after a nor'easter forced postponement of the original Sept. 27 event.

Admission is free.

The market had originally charged nonmembers $5, but Historic New England dropped the fee for the rescheduled date, according to its ticketing page.

The juried market brings together painters, potters, jewelers, woodworkers, photographers, fiber artists and glassmakers, according to The Quincy Sun. Historic New England described the event as an intimate market where regional craftspeople sell handmade work in a wide range of mediums.

After browsing the vendors, visitors can step inside the mansion and explore "Myth and Memory: Stories of the American Revolution," a Historic New England exhibition marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. According to Historic New England, the show draws on the organization's archival collections to tell stories of people whose lives were shaped by the Revolution.

The exhibition is organized around four themes: Resistance, Loyalty, Liberty and Memory. It is included with museum admission and runs through Nov. 15.

Architect W. Ralph Emerson designed the 18,600-square-foot mansion in 1878 for newlyweds W.E.C. Eustis and Edith Hemenway. The estate sits on 80 acres at the base of the Blue Hills. The Eustis family sold the property to Historic New England in 2012, and the museum opened in May 2017.

The market goes on rain or shine. The grounds include uneven terrain, so comfortable footwear is recommended. Parking is available on site.
